MEET THE FOUNDER and CEO

Dr. Suzanna Underwood

BCND, MH, CNHP, CHP, CMSAT

Dr. Suzanna Underwood is a visionary in natural healthcare, boasting over 20 years of experience. She is a Board-Certified
Naturopath Doctor, Master Herbalist, Certified MSA Technician, Certified RBTI Specialist, Certified Natural Health Practitioner, former nurse, and founder and CEO of Boro Holistic Health. She has been practicing in all-natural health care for over 20 years.

Dr. Underwood has dedicated her life to providing hope and health to the sick. Her journey began as a cardiac nurse, where she witnessed the limitations of conventional medicine firsthand. Disheartened by the over-reliance on synthetic drugs and surgeries, she embarked on a quest for truth, diving into the world of holistic health.

Driven by a desire to offer comprehensive wellness solutions, Dr. Underwood pursued further education, and in 2015, she and her
husband, Jamey, founded Protect Your Earth Suit, an all-natural health clinic in Middle Tennessee, which has since been renamed Boro Holistic Health to better reflect its mission and geography. The clinic operates as a Private Membership Association, commonly referred to as a PMA, thus keeping it in the private sector and out of the public arena.

Dr. Underwood's approach to healthcare is rooted in critical thinking, compassion, and a commitment to empowering individuals to take control of their health.

Through Boro Holistic Health, she offers a range of modalities, such as Bioenergetic Testing, Colon Hydrotherapy, IV Therapy, Thermography and more, all under one roof. Her dedication to natural healing and patient education continues to inspire hope and transformation in countless lives.

The Underwood’s wear multiple hats, as they also home-school their children, homestead their farm, (with over 100 animals and vegetable gardens), and home-make all they can in their own kitchen.

Meet the Boro Holistic Health Team

Janice, BSN, RN

Janice has been a Registered Nurse since 2011 and a school nurse since 2018. She completed the RN to BSN program at Austin Peay State University in August of 2022, where she graduated with a 4.0. While there, she was introduced to Holistic Nursing which resonated with her initial calling to the nursing profession. She is co-chair of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of American Holistic Nurses Association, Director for the District 15 Tennessee Nurses Association and has completed a Nurse Coaching certification program through Integrative Nurse Coaching Academy (INCA).

Realizing the sick care model of the current system did not facilitate the healing connection she thought she would see as a nurse, she contemplated leaving nursing all together, but felt God calling her to something more. Janice heard Dr. Underwood speak at a wellness event and immediately knew this is what God was calling her to.

Janice believes God made our bodies with the ability to heal itself when properly balanced and concludes working with Boro Holistic Health has given her the opportunity to see the patient as a whole person, breathing life back into her nursing profession.

Jessica, BSN, RN

Since 2014, Jessica has been serving her community as a Registered Nurse in fields such as oncology, medical surgical, and pre-operative/PACU. After spending several years in a hospital setting, she determined there must be a better way to treat and prevent the conditions she was frequently seeing. This set her on a trajectory toward holistic living and led her to Dr. Underwood, who saw much of herself in Jessica and quickly made her senior nurse at Boro Holistic Health.

She has been working alongside Dr. Underwood since 2021 and is experiencing firsthand the benefits of natural medicine when caring for the needs of those coming to the clinic, as well as for her own family.

When not at the clinic, she loves baking sourdough bread, raising chickens, tending her garden, and spending time with her husband and three children.

April, Superhuman Protocol Specialist

In September of 2022, April joined the Boro Holistic Health team as the Customer Relations Manager and Superhuman Protocol Specialist. She is the sweet, friendly face you see during Superhuman orientation and buzzing around the clinic.

April’s holistic health journey started in the early 2000’s when she met Dr. Underwood through a crazy-chance-encounter that could have only been orchestrated by God. As their friendship grew, so did April’s knowledge of the holistic world and what being truly healthy means. Watching the medical system fail both her parents further strengthened April’s passion to follow a holistic lifestyle. April and her family have been patients since the practice began.

Rachael, Office Manager, Patient Relations Manager

Rachael is a homeschool mom of three girls who studied Message Therapy in Florida, which spurred her onto a more natural way of living. Along her own health journey, God brought her to holistic health, first as a patient and then as an administrator. She was introduced to Dr. Underwood through a mutual friend and they instantly knew she was meant for the team!

Rachael corresponds with many new patients, handles clinic vendors, keeps the office up to speed in the tech world, and so much more. Her fast passed personality helps Boro Holistic Health be a well-oiled machine, so Dr. Underwood and the other providers can focus on helping their patients improve their health and wellness.

When with her family, she enjoys hiking, biking, exploring, movie nights, and to cozy up with a good book.

Elizabeth, Assistant Manager and Inventory Specialist

Elizabeth is a student at Middle Tennessee State University with a focus in Elementary Education. She has a heart to not only teach, but to continue learning herself. On her health journey, she found herself seeking holistic approached care, which led her to the Boro Holistic Health clinic. Her passion is to serve others in all facets of their lives. Elizabeth is one of the smiling faces you see as you walk into the clinic. She also has a side business called, Aunt Betty’s Bakery, stating, “I love to bake and decorate cakes for all occasions; from weddings to birthdays and everything in between.” Other than baking, Elizabeth spends most of her time with her family and loving on her seven nieces and nephews.

Feby, Patient Relations and Cookie Enthusiast

Feby, pronounced Fee-bee, is one of the smiling faces you’ll meet as you walk through our door. Feby graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science from Belmont University. Through her studies and internships, she realized a pattern; aside from injuries, inflammation was a driving factor to physical therapy care. Digging deeper, she found herself in the world of functional nutrition and medicine, where the root cause of illness and inflammation were essential targets for rebalancing hormones in the body. This led her to becoming a certified, level-one, integrative health practitioner. Feby is a wealth of knowledge in holistic health and an avid cookie baker, specializing in organic, gluten free cookies.

Erika, Administrative Assistant

Erika is one of the friendly faces ready to greet you at the front desk. She studied English at Middle Tennessee State University, and has been homeschooling her four children and tutoring at her local homeschool community the past ten years. Erika endeavors to teach all her students to ask good questions; seek Truth, Beauty, and Goodness; and become lifelong learners. Erika began asking questions about holistic approaches to healthcare after feeling pressured into an unwanted surgical procedure shortly after giving birth to her first child. She has continued learning about food as medicine, natural remedies, and holistic treatments as she has utilized them to care for her own family over the years.

Erika and her husband enjoy fixing up their 1930s farmhouse and learning to homestead on their six acres in the country. She spends her free time reading and collecting books, gardening, singing on her church worship team, and adventuring in nature with her family.
